Loreena McKennitt

Dear Loreena,

Are you a real witch? My mother thinks you are, but she says that you’re a good witch. She plays your music all the time. I’m going to dress up like you for Halloween!

Last night, I lit a lot of candles and turned off the lights and turned your music up really loud. I even had my bathrobe draped over my shoulders like a cape, and had shut the cat in the room with me. I kept waiting, but nothing happened. Did I do it wrong? I even tried waving a chopstick around like a wand. I want to be a real witch like you. Should I wait and try again on Halloween night? I don’t want to miss going trick-or-treating, but I’ll stay home if I have to. The people up on the next block put on an awesome haunted house, and they give out lots of really good chocolate candy.

Please help. I want to get this right. Happy Halloween!

Love,

Amber, age 11

Pastor Joel:

I do not live in Houston, but I have watched your ministry, and it has really changed my life and my whole world. I know that you already have a very wide reach, but I think I know how you can expand even further.

I think you should be the first evangelist in space! NASA has already put a teacher and a couple of senators on space shuttle missions, so it’s a logical next step that they would send someone like you, too. Plus, you’re already right there in Houston! You could keep doing your regular ministry while training for the space mission.

Has NASA talked to you about this? If they haven’t, do you have any astronaut buddies you could approach with this idea? I think it would be a great way to spread the word across the planet, literally.

Bless you, now and always,

Michelle Ranch
